Become A Board Member
DOVE has available openings for interested individuals who would like to volunteer their time and talents to serve as a DOVE board member. Board members will be expected to develop policies, procedures and regulations, monitor financial performance and the agency’s programs. Additional board member obligations and expectations include fundraising, policy setting, planning special activities, personnel committee, long-range planning and the understanding of the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence.
Join The Iron County Coordinated Community Response Team Or The Gogebic Task Force
The Iron County CCRT and Gogebic CountyTask Force is formed by key community agencies (DOVE, law enforcement, health care providers, prosecuting attorney, etc.) to promote the prevention/education of domestic and sexual violence and enhance victim safety and offender accountablility. Our goals are to develop prevention strategies, implement a community response to domestic and sexual violence and provide ongoing education and assessment of domesic and sexual violence. Volunteer
Advocacy: The volunteer may work directly with other agencies on behalf of the victim and or children via telephone or face-to-face.
Child Care: The volunteer may work directly with the children. Childcare is provided to clients so they may attend support groups and counseling appointments.
Crisis Line: The volunteer must have training in the crisis line procedures. The volunteer may answer the line at the shelter or at home.
Support Group: The volunteer must be trained by a counselor in support group procedures in order to successfully co-facilitate.
Transportation: The volunteer assists the client with transportation to meetings, appointments, school, court, etc. The volunteer also may assist moving victims into their own home.
Fundraising: The volunteer may assist with fundraising events such as the color run, the yearly raffle, and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Clerical: The volunteer may assist with office procedures. Shopping and Maintenance: The volunteer may assist for food and other supplies for clients, and shelter repair, clean, and hazard control.
